EAT ME -- Fish magazine cover

My magazine cover for 'EAT ME' was taken from modern food magazines where their focus was on one detailed piece of food.

The magazine designs such as Delicious, Food, Bon Appetit and Lucky Peach. Here are some of their previous covers, all of which focus on one meal or piece of food.

When discussing my design with Martin and conducting my own research I came to the realisation that most food magazines I was looking at had a similar characteristic which was a focus on one piece of food, ingredient or dish.

And so, because the brief was 'Fish' I decided to go for a food magazine, a 'fish food' magazine because I felt it could best demonstrate the 'fish' brief.

I wanted an edgy and clean cut look which would appeal to the younger crowd who wanted to cook and eat fish. I feel that this specialist magazine could be a new branch from just 'food' magazines.

Although it looks simplistic, the cover was extremely tedious to do and involved colour coordination and the use of Adobe Photoshop and Indesign.

I achieved the look I wanted by using a high-quality image which I colour adjusted in Photoshop to make the red stand out even more.

I went for minimal cover lines because I believed that the focus should be on the picture and a few lines would inspire people to read the magazine.
